Kat’s Got The Cream is a podcast for music lovers and makers, featuring the crème de la crème of songwriters from across the globe with host, Kat Eaton.

 

Each episode features a different songwriter talking about their craft, their influences, their song-writing tips, and their experiences of working in the industry.

 Kat gets into the nooks and crannies of each guest’s back catalogue. Together, guest and host, try to pin point exactly what it is that makes us love or hate a certain song. 

Ep 1: Natalie Duncan

Jazz/Soul singer-songwriter Natalie talks about performing on Later with Jools Holland and touring with Goldie. She shares her experience of working in music and healthcare at Core Arts and we talk about the cathartic use of songwriting as a great form of therapy.

 

Ep 2: Andy Platts

Mamas Gun and Young Gun Silver Fox front man Andy Platts talks about writing with Rod Temperton and Jon Oates. He gives us an insight into his production techniques and tells us the hilarious story behind the Mamas Gun single ‘Lenny’.

 

Ep 3: Elly O’Keeffe

Celtic soul singer-songwriter Elly talks about growing up in the family band and how important authenticity is to songwriting. We talk about her time on The Voice and working with Tom Jones and what it was like to meet her idol Shania Twain.

 

Ep 4: Julian Velard

New York born and bred piano singer Julian Velard bridges the gap between music and comedy and has shared the stage with Reggie Watts and Will Farrell. In this episode Julian unveils his latest creation: An autobiographical musical entitled ‘Please Don’t Make Me Play Piano Man’.

Bristol born electropop singer Ella Rothwell tells us about meeting Paul Simon when she supporting him at The Royal Albert Hall and how collaborating with Drum & Bass artist Metrik has helped to evolve her sound.

Blue-eyed soul singer Kenny Thomas is a multi-platinum selling artist and was a regular on TOTP. In this episode Kenny tells us about his influences and growing up in East London, as well as talking about his numerous fundraising events for his daughter’s condition and his new book coming out next year.
